Welcome To The Prospect Park Zoo & Wildlife Center

Sea Lions Sound Off click

Brooklyn's own newly refurbished Prospect Park Wildlife Center is dedicated to children, bringing them up close to exotic and domestic animals in a unique format. We have Sea Lions, Wallabies, Ducks, Exotic Finches, a Scarlet Macaw, a petting zoo, Fish, Red Pandas, Snakes, Emus, Capebaras, Prairie Dogs, Pirmates and more!

Our exhibits are designed to bring the animals up close and personal. Children and adults are introduced to important animal conservation concepts as we underline the importance of animals in our lives and in human history. Children are encouraged to use their 5 senses to explore the world of the animal kingdom. And we sponsor overnight sleepovers in the Wildlife Center. And if you're lucky, one of our local species, like the beautiful White Herron, will also display their stuff in the comfortable protection of our nature preserve!

The Wildlife Center is located on Flatbush Avenue, half way between Grand Army Plaza and Ocean Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, Empire Bvld Intersection, opposite the Botanical Gardens, and with an entrance near the Lefferts Homestead and Prospect Park Carousel. The Wildlife Center is accessable by public transportation via the D or Q trains at the Prospect Park Station, or the B41 Bus on Flatbush Avenue. The Wildlife Center is open year round. For directions from Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, New Jersey, please click.

The Wildlife Center is separated into several areas, both indoor and out. The center houses our friendly Sea Lions. We have an outdoor Discovery Trail with many learning activities for our young patrons to see, touch, and learn how animals live and survive. This exhibit includes our free roaming Kangaroo-like Wallabies, our Red Pandas, and our Bald Eagle.

Inside exhibits feature Baboons, Weaver Finches, Parrot Finches, Snakes, and more. The new Baboon exhibit encloses the Humans in glass while the Baboons run free! Learn how these Primates communicate and socialize in the wild.

Lastly, we have our Domesticated Animal area, both indoor and out, where we learn about many common animals in our lives, and their wild ancestors. So come and spend a day with us in Brooklyn and enjoy our Wildlife Center!
